Job Description - HR Business Partner

HR Business Partner

Location: London
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We’re looking for an HR Business Partner to join our HR team at HCA Healthcare UK. This is a key role supporting a large and complex business area, partnering closely with senior leaders to shape and deliver exceptional people outcomes.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative and respected HR team that partners closely with leaders across one of our most complex corporate business areas. Our team plays a crucial role in shaping the colleague experience, building capability, and ensuring leaders have the support, insight and expertise they need to manage and develop their teams effectively.

What makes our HR team unique is our ability to influence large‑scale organisational decisions that directly affect how our hospitals and services operate. When we support leaders to make better people decisions, strengthen culture, and build high‑performing teams, we enable our colleagues to focus on what matters most — delivering safe, high‑quality, world class care to our patients. Every improvement we make in people, performance and culture ultimately contributes to better patient outcomes.

In this role, you’ll operate with credibility and confidence, using exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills to partner at senior levels. You’ll be comfortable navigating complexity, anticipating challenges, and shaping proactive people strategies that support long‑term business goals.

What you’ll do:

HR Business Partnering

  • Provide strategic HR partnership to senior leaders across the business area, supporting talent, workforce planning, organisational development, reward, resourcing and cultural initiatives.
  • Partner with the HR leadership team and Centres of Excellence to deliver the HR strategy and ensure alignment across the organisation.
  • Coach and influence leaders to anticipate organisational challenges, build capability and drive high‑performance cultures.
  • Lead and support change programmes, including restructures, organisational design, TUPE, transformation and capability uplift.
  • Champion the employee engagement agenda, ensuring action plans are implemented and leaders are supported to drive meaningful improvements.
  • Lead succession planning, talent identification and capability development for specialist and leadership roles.
  • Provide expert advice on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and confident decision‑making.
  • Oversee HR service delivery for the business area, ensuring a responsive, proactive and high‑quality experience for leaders and colleagues.

HR Analytics & Policy

  • Use HR data and metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities, enabling leaders to make informed, evidence‑based decisions.
  • Support the consistent application and continuous improvement of HR policies and processes across the business area.

Culture & General Duties

  • Embed HCA UK’s mission and values, supporting a culture of fairness, compassion, integrity and accountability.
  • Present to senior stakeholders, take an active role in leadership forums and deputise for the CHRO where appropriate.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree‑level education (or equivalent).
  • Full CIPD qualification.
  • Experience operating at both strategic and operational levels within a large, complex corporate environment.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to partner confidently with senior leaders.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience partnering senior teams in fast‑moving environments.
  • Proven project management capability with excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of HR policy, employment legislation and best practice.
  • Experience advising on and managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience leading or supporting transformation and change programmes, including organisational redesign.
  • Strong ability to interpret and analyse people data to provide insight and drive action.
  • High levels of business acumen, balancing people priorities with organisational needs.
  • A values‑driven and compassionate approach that aligns with HCA UK’s mission and core values.
