An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced investigator to join the Human Resources Division as an Investigator within the University of Cambridge.
This role focuses on conducting high-quality, impartial and thorough investigations into complex and sensitive matters, including allegations of serious misconduct, sexual misconduct and conduct that may constitute criminal behaviour. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring investigations are conducted fairly, professionally and in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and best practice.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of complex investigations, gathering and analysing evidence, conducting interviews, assessing credibility, and producing clear, accurate and balanced investigation reports to support informed decision-making.
The role includes managing highly sensitive cases involving vulnerable individuals, ensuring all parties are treated fairly and respectfully throughout the investigation process. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, presenting findings and recommendations that support effective and proportionate outcomes.
You will also contribute to maintaining confidence in organisational processes by ensuring investigations are conducted with professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and a strong understanding of the impact of allegations on all parties involved.
Requirements
* Proven experience conducting sensitive and complex investigations, including allegations of serious misconduct, sexual misconduct, or conduct that may constitute criminal offences
* Experience presenting investigation findings and reports to senior decision-makers
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to a wide range of audiences
* Demonstrable specialist knowledge of sexual violence and sexual misconduct, including the impact on those reporting concerns and those subject to allegations
* Strong report-writing skills with the ability to produce detailed, accurate and concise investigation reports
* Ability to analyse, evaluate and present complex and nuanced information clearly and objectively
* Excellent interviewing and evidence-gathering skills, including awareness of personal bias and the importance of impartiality
