Lead the HR function for a well-established maritime shipping firm in London.
This is the first in-house HR role, giving you full ownership to shape how HR works - day-to-day and long term building on existing policies and procedures.
You’ll be the go-to person for all things people-related. That includes performance processes, employee support, visa matters, benefits, and helping managers handle HR issues with clarity and consistency.
Working directly with the executive team, you’ll put performance structure in place and improve how things run. You’ll need to be comfortable working on your own, using sound judgement, and offering practical advice.
It’s a hands-on role. You’ll need to know what good HR looks like, but also be happy doing the basics.
This position would suit if you’ve worked as a generalist in a similar-sized business and want to build something from the ground up.
Maritime and shipping experience is not essential, but would be advantageous.
Key experience:
Strong HR generalist skills, ideally in a standalone or small-team role
Confident advising managers and handling employee relations
Familiar with performance processes, compliance, and core HR operations
