HR Manager/ People & Culture Lead- Portsmouth- Hybrid- £28,000- £35,000

  • Location: Portsmouth
  • Contract Type: Full Time Permanent, Hybrid

HR Manager/ People & Culture Lead Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager for a client based in Portsmouth. This is a vital position within their organisation, responsible for leading core HR functions including recruitment, compliance, onboarding, training, and performance management. The ideal candidate will be strategic in their approach, capable of working both with existing frameworks and developing new.

HR Manager/ People & Culture Lead Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process using both traditional and non-traditional recruitment channels. You will be expected to think creatively for hard-to-fill roles and ensure a smooth and inclusive hiring process.

HR Compliance: Ensure the company is fully compliant with all current employment laws and HR-related regulations. This includes maintaining accurate records, updating policies, and staying abreast of legislative changes.

Leave Management: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of statutory leave entitlements (such as maternity, paternity, sickness, and holiday leave) as well as company-specific policies. Support staff and line managers with accurate and fair application of these policies.

Performance Reviews: Support, train, and coach our leadership team to carry out performance reviews consistently and effectively in line with the company’s schedule. Help embed a feedback culture that drives performance and engagement.

Onboarding and the First 90 Days: Design and implement a structured onboarding and induction programme for all new starters. Ensure they receive the necessary training, understand our culture, and have clarity on their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations from the outset.

Training and Development: Ensure all employees, including yourself, remain up to date with mandatory training and professional development. Identify training needs, source or deliver suitable programmes, and monitor completion and effectiveness.

HR Manager/ People & Culture Lead Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in an HR management role
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR compliance.
  • Confident in delivering training, coaching, and employee engagement programmes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker, especially around recruitment strategies and employee development.
