Job Description - HR Manager Temp to Perm

Interim Human Resources Manager (Temp to Permanent Opportunity)
Location: Reading, parking available
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Share Options
Contract: Full-time, Office-based (Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week)

A rapidly scaling UK-based technology start-up is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and develop its HR function. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven organisation at the forefront of innovation in sustainable solutions, with a growing team and ambitious international plans.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the HR Manager will be a key member of the leadership team. You will take full ownership of HR operations, including payroll, recruitment, policy development, and employee engagement. This is an office-based role at the company’s main site in Reading, where you’ll help shape a dynamic and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day HR operations and third-party payroll coordination
  • Develop and implement HR policies in line with UK employment law
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff
  • Lead performance management and salary review processes
  • Provide training, coaching, and conflict resolution support
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards
  • Handle disciplinary procedures and workplace investigations
Essential Requirements
  • Degree-qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ HR experience in a commercial setting
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and payroll processes
  • Confident in employee relations, coaching, and conflict resolution
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to international HR operations
  • Full UK driving licence
