HR and Payroll Transactions Officer

We are recruiting an experienced HR and Payroll Transactions Officer to join a busy and fast-paced Personnel Services team within a local authority.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong HR and payroll administration experience who enjoys working in a high-volume environment and delivering an accurate, efficient service.

This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week.

The Role

You will provide a comprehensive HR and payroll transactional service across the full employee lifecycle, supporting employees, schools and external clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes
Processing overtime, casual hours, mileage and expenses
Managing maternity, paternity and other employee-related transactions
Processing tax notifications, student loans and statutory deductions
Calculating redundancy payments
Supporting pension administration, including LGPS and Teachers' Pension requirements
Processing auto-enrolment and pension re-enrolment
Producing accurate employment contracts and documentation
Maintaining accurate employee records within the HR and Payroll system
Providing advice and guidance on terms and conditions, policies and procedures
Monitoring sickness absence and supporting HR colleagues with related administration
Producing reports and supporting the continuous improvement of HR and payroll processes

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Significant experience working within HR and Payroll administration
Strong knowledge of HR/payroll processes, policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment
Experience using a complex integrated HR and Payroll system
NVQ Level 3, A-Level qualification or equivalent experience
Strong numeracy skills and confidence completing detailed calculations
Advanced IT skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A customer-focused approach and the ability to build strong working relationships
The ability to remain calm and accurate in a busy, demanding environment

This role would suit an experienced Payroll Officer, HR Administrator, HR and Payroll Officer, Payroll Administrator or HR Transactions Officer looking for their next opportunity
