Location: Banbury, Oxfordshire Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience Contract: Full time, guaranteed six month contract, with potential to become permanent
Pertemps is recruiting an experienced HSE Manager to join an established manufacturing business in Banbury.
Reporting to the UK Plant Director, you will lead the site’s health, safety and environmental strategy, strengthen its management systems and drive practical improvements across the operation.
Manufacturing experience is essential. We are looking for someone who understands the challenges of a busy production environment and can engage colleagues at all levels to improve standards and build a strong safety culture.
The role
* Develop and deliver the site’s HSE strategy, aligning priorities with operational needs.
* Strengthen HSE management systems and drive progress towards ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification.
* Lead site audits, inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Ensure compliance with relevant UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Coach and support managers to take ownership of HSE within their teams.
* Deliver training and practical initiatives that improve safety behaviours and environmental performance.
* Liaise with regulators, external auditors and other relevant agencies.
* Monitor performance and translate policies and standards into clear, achievable action plans.
About you
* Proven experience leading HSE within a manufacturing environment.
* A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification, alongside a relevant degree.
* Detailed knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, with experience implementing or improving management systems.
* Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Experience leading audits, risk assessments and accident investigations.
* The ability to influence, coach and challenge constructively, with evidence of driving behavioural change.
* A practical, proactive approach and the confidence to prioritise improvements in a changing environment.
Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG would be advantageous.
This appointment offers a guaranteed six month contract. There may be an opportunity to become permanent, although this is not guaranteed. Some occasional travel may be required, and flexible working needs can be discussed during the recruitment process.
