MLK Search are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educational HR Advisor.
The Opportunity:
HR Advisor Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and advice on all HR matters, policies, terms, and conditions, ensuring compliance with Trust policy and legislation.
Assist in implementing Trust HR policies, including coaching managers.
Promote the welfare of pupils/students and colleagues by adhering to Trust policies and procedures related to safeguarding.
Employee Relations:
Support the Trust HR Lead with employee relations cases, including grievance, disciplinary, and attendance management.
Organize hearings, take notes, draft outcome letters, and occasionally conduct investigations.
Attendance Management:
Generate staff attendance reports from the Trust’s HR system, monitoring absence indicators.
Advise schools on supporting colleagues during long-term absence, making occupational health referrals, and arranging phased returns.
Conduct absence review meetings and stress risk assessments as needed.
Recruitment:
Ensure adherence to the Trust’s Safer Recruitment policy.
Assist schools in writing job adverts, reviewing descriptions, and posting them online.
Issue employment contracts upon request.
Support induction and onboarding processes for new colleagues.
Payroll and Pensions:
Address pay queries by liaising with payroll/finance colleagues.
Provide support for ill health and voluntary retirements, both for teaching and non-teaching staff.
General HR Tasks:
Assist schools with the Trust’s HR system.
Collect exit questionnaires/interviews and take appropriate action.
Participate in HR training and ad hoc projects.
Analyze management information when required.
Continuously improve HR processes and systems.
Liaise with external bodies and staff across the Trust.
Maintain effective electronic and paper-based filing systems.
Handle administrative duties such as filing and scanning.
