Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher ready to inspire the next generation of critical thinkers? A thriving secondary school in Basildon is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to join their team from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role is suitable for both Early Career Teachers and experienced professionals who are excited to make an impact through History, Geography, Religious Education, or a mix of humanities subjects.

 

You'll be joining a forward-thinking, inclusive school community that values curiosity, engagement, and real-world learning. The humanities department is supportive, collaborative, and well-resourced, offering you the chance to grow professionally while delivering lessons that spark meaningful conversations and deeper understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach one or more subjects within the humanities curriculum (e.g. History, Geography, RE).
  • Adapt learning to suit the needs and interests of all learners.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress regularly.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, enrichment activities, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, and academic achievement.
  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and dynamic classroom environment.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or expected QTS by September 2025.
  • A degree in a humanities-related subject.
  • Open to ECTs and experienced teachers alike.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring curiosity in young people.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school.
