High Voltage Technician - Aerospace & Defence Location: Filton, Bristol Salary: Up to £60,000 Job Type: Permanent
The Role We are recruiting for an experience HV Technician to join a major facilities management contract at a large-scale aerospace and defence engineering site in Filton, Bristol.
This is a technically demanding position working across a large and complex engineering environment, responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance and fault-finding of HV and LV electrical systems.
The site supports highly specialised engineering and manufacturing activities, meaning reliability, safety and electrical compliance are critical to the operation.
The successful candidate will join an established engineering team and will be expected to work to a high standard while following strict electrical safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across HV and LV electrical infrastructure, responding to faults and ensuring electrical systems remain safe, reliable and operational.
* The role will involve operating, isolating and restoring electrical systems and equipment in accordance with approved safety procedures and your level of authorisation.
* You will undertake fault-finding, testing and inspection of electrical equipment and assist with the identification and resolution of technical issues across the site.
* You will ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, British Standards, electrical safety procedures and site requirements.
* The role will also involve working closely with other engineering discplines, contractors and facilities management teams to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve complex issues.
* Accurate completion of maintenance records, permits, documentation and compliance information will be an important part of the roles.
* You will also contribute to continous improvement indentifying potential reliability issues and recommending improvements to electrical systems and maintenance practises.
About You
We're looking for an experienced HV electrical professional with a strong background in industrial, manufacturing, critical infrastructure, utilities, data centres, defence or other technically complex environments.
You should experience working with high and low voltage electrical systems and be comfortable working within strict safety procedures.
Experience working within a large industrial or engineering environment would be highly advantageous.
You will need to be safety focused, technically confident and able to work independently while also contributing effecitvely to a wider engineering team.
Qualifications & Experience:
* HV/LV Authorised Person.
* NVQ Level 3 of equivalent electrical qualification.
* Experience working with HV and LV electrical systems.
* Strong understand of safety rules and safe systems of work.
* Experience carrying out electrical isolation, switching and fault-finding.
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous.
Due ot the nature of the site, candidates must be able to successfully complete the required security clearance and vetting.
