HV Test Technician

HV Test Technician – UK field-based (3 positions)
£50,000 – £60,000 + package | Permanent

Our client, a global leader in high voltage testing and asset diagnostics, is recruiting three HV Test Technicians in the UK. You will carry out commissioning and maintenance testing on HV and EHV AC and DC cable systems on client sites across the UK, with occasional European travel.

The role

* Commissioning and maintenance testing of HV and EHV AC and DC underground cable systems, rotating machines and gas insulated switchgear, to industry and international standards

* Testing specialised cable systems rated up to 400kV

* Specifying the HV test equipment and feed power needed for long land and subsea class cable systems

* Advanced partial discharge (PD) measurement during HV testing

* Field testing and diagnosis of offshore array and inter-array cables using a specialised offshore resonance test system

* Field testing and diagnosis of HVDC cable systems

* Analysing PD data for offline commissioning and maintenance testing, and for online diagnosis (3PARD / 3FREQ)

* Writing technical test reports with recommendations, and providing technical support, client training and quotations

What you need

* BSc in Electrical Engineering or higher, or equivalent hands-on experience

* Hands-on HV cable testing experience: AC resonant / VLF withstand, partial discharge, sheath testing

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the UK, with occasional European travel

Desirable

* 3PARD and 3FREQ analysis tools

* Gas insulated switchgear

* HVDC, offshore array or subsea cable testing
