Functional Skills English Tutor – Up to Level 2
Location: Multiple Sites (Aldershot, Abingdon, Bicester, Marchwood, Minley, Tidworth, Worthy Down + remote)
Salary: Up to £31,000 plus benefits
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Are you a qualified Functional Skills Tutor with a passion for delivering English up to Level 2? Ready to make an impact across a range of exciting learning environments? We’re looking for an experienced educator to join the team at a leading provider of training services to the UK Ministry of Defence and beyond.
The Role:
As a Functional Skills English Tutor, you’ll deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills qualifications (Levels 1 & 2) across a number of military and employer sites, as well as provide online support. You’ll be instrumental in helping learners reach their full potential as part of the Army Apprenticeship programme and other partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Functional Skills English at Levels 1 & 2 across multiple locations
• Engage learners through onsite and remote delivery
• Assess Speaking & Listening components and maintain Awarding Body compliance
• Maintain detailed learner records, plans, and feedback using digital systems
• Prepare tailored resources, lesson plans and session records
• Contribute to quality assurance and curriculum development activities
• Report progress and achievement to the management team

What We’re Looking For:

• Recognised teaching qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS etc.)
• Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths
• Experience teaching Functional Skills English up to Level 2
• Confident in both classroom and remote delivery
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (travel between sites required)
