The Hydraulic Engineer is responsible for coordinating project elements such as engineering design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and documentation to ensure the customer project remains on time and within budget in order to meet the requirements of the customer’s needs.
The role requires a good understanding of hydraulic systems and is hands on with activities covering in-house set-up, testing, calibration, and fault finding as well as travelling to perform on site set-up at the customer’s site, with repeat testing, calibration and necessary fault finding. The engineer will also provide maintenance/service support to customers as required.
The scale of each customer project may vary from sub-component to entire systems that range in operational complexity, as such this is an exciting and diverse role and would interest and excite anyone with this level of engineering background. The engineer will be trained on in house developed operational software but should have similar experience with control systems. They will be familiar with preparations for on-site work such as site specific risk assessments and safe systems of work documentation. The role requires good technical experience in disciplines of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical & electronic, and servo control, therefore a strong all round background and knowledge of general engineering. Knowledge of control technologies and real-time systems such as industrial automation or similar is advantageous.
Roles and responsibilities: Lead implementation of projects in-house and on-site Ensure the project is compliant with appropriate directives, such as ISO9000, EC Machinery Directive and Health Safety requirements Monitor project progress, resolve any issues that arise and coordinate team activities to maintain approved schedule, reporting progress to management Work out calibration requirements to ensure performance compliance. Carry out in house calibration/testing and issue the calibration certification Collect necessary data from customer or check site information in advance to guarantee a smooth installation and a smooth operation Developing and following up on a complete and detailed installation plans Being the technical Single Point of Control/Contact / Project Leader for client (on site) Drawing up method statements and risk assessment before site work Drawing up and managing manuals, standard procedures and progress report Provide customer support as required, both on-site and remotely Assisting and project manager in project preparation and handling technical issues during execution
Experience, qualifications and skills 3 Years ideally working with hydraulics
Qualifications HND or degree qualified in an engineering discipline Ideally hydraulic qualification
