Job Description - Hydraulic Engineer - Bologna, Italy

Hydraulic Engineer – Bologna – Excavators/Heavy Plant
A global manufacturer specialising in Heavy Plant are seeking a Hydraulic Engineer to design, develop, and optimize hydraulic systems for excavator products in the European market.

Role: Hydraulic Engineer
Area: Bologna
Salary: €56,000 - €64,000 per year + bonus + benefits
The requirements of the Hydraulic Engineer will be:
  • Design & Develop Hydraulic Systems: Create and improve hydraulic layouts for excavators, ensuring they meet European standards and performance goals.
  • Research & Innovation: Explore new hydraulic technologies and components to keep products competitive and up to date.
  • Product Improvement & Cost Reduction: Analyse user feedback to boost reliability and reduce costs through better design and smarter component choices.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert support to dealers and field teams, including on-site troubleshooting when needed.
  • Compliance & Training: Follow all safety, quality, and environmental standards, and train internal teams on hydraulic systems and maintenance.
The ideal candidate for Hydraulic Engineer will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in construction machinery and hydraulic system engineering, specifically within excavator or heavy-equipment contexts.
  • In-depth understanding of construction machinery hydraulic systems and component technologies, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and control circuits.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic system layout, encompassing tank design, pipe/hose routing, sealing solutions, and installation constraints.
  • Experience with hydraulic system simulation tools and awareness of advanced industry trends in electro-hydraulic technology.
  • Proficient in CAD (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) for creating 2D/3D hydraulic schematics and assemblies.
