ARCA Consulting is proud to be partnering with a specialist engineering business in Cambridgeshire to recruit an experienced Hydraulics Fitter / Hydraulics Technician.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on engineer to join a technically focused organisation, where you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, testing and maintenance of hydraulic systems and components.

Working closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and Procurement teams, you will play an important role in ensuring hydraulic equipment is manufactured safely, reliably and to specification, while supporting on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Assemble and install hydraulic systems, components, pipework, tubing and hose assemblies in accordance with drawings and specifications.

* Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, work instructions and technical specifications.

* Fit and connect hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, manifolds, filters and associated equipment.

* Manufacture and install hydraulic hoses and pipework, ensuring correct routing, connection, support and identification.

* Pressure-test and commission hydraulic systems, identifying and rectifying leaks, faults and performance issues.

* Diagnose hydraulic faults and carry out repair, servicing and preventative maintenance activities.

* Identify defects, investigate root causes and undertake effective corrective work.

* Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and tool/equipment control within the workshop.

* Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality and Procurement teams to resolve technical issues and support on-time delivery.

* Work safely and in accordance with relevant engineering standards, procedures and risk assessments.

About You

You will have practical experience working with hydraulic systems, components and fluid-power equipment, with a hands-on approach to assembly, installation, testing and fault-finding.

Ideally, you will bring:

* Practical experience of hydraulic systems, components and fluid-power principles.

* Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings.

* Experience in hydraulic assembly, fitting, hose manufacture and pipework installation.

* Experience working with hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, manifolds and associated equipment.

* Competence using hand tools, power tools and appropriate hydraulic test equipment.

* Experience pressure-testing, commissioning and fault-finding hydraulic systems.

* Good understanding of safe working practices, risk assessment and relevant engineering standards.

* Ability to diagnose faults, identify root causes and carry out effective repairs.

* Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.

* Ability to work effectively to production schedules and delivery requirements.

A relevant engineering qualification would be advantageous, although proven practical experience in hydraulics will also be considered.
