Hygiene Operator

About the Role:
As a Hygiene Operator, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled and reactive cleaning tasks across production and associated areas to support safe food manufacturing. You will ensure all hygiene procedures are followed in line with internal standards and external regulations, directly contributing to product safety and operational efficiency. Working closely with production and quality teams, you will help maintain a clean, organised environment that supports smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out routine and deep cleaning of production areas, equipment, and facilities in line with site hygiene schedules.
 Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and effectively to achieve required hygiene standards.
 Apply correct cleaning and sanitation procedures, including chemical use, dilution, and contact times.
 Follow documented cleaning instructions and verbal guidance from supervisors to complete tasks accurately.
Conduct pre- and post-clean checks to ensure all areas meet required quality and hygiene standards.
Handle and store cleaning materials and chemicals correctly to maintain safety and compliance.
Identify and report any hygiene, safety, or equipment issues promptly to the appropriate person.
Complete relevant hygiene records and checklists accurately to support audits and compliance.
Key Requirements:

Practical experience in cleaning or hygiene work within an industrial, food, or manufacturing environment.
 Strong knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures relevant to food production settings.
 Understanding of food safety and HACCP principles as they relate to hygiene activities.
 Ability to operate a range of cleaning equipment and machinery safely.
 Basic health and safety awareness, including safe chemical handling and use of PPE.
 Ability to follow written cleaning procedures and verbal instructions consistently.
 High attention to detail with a focus on achieving and maintaining quality standards.
 Reliability and flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing cleaning priorities.
Desirable Skills:

Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG hygiene role.
Familiarity with hygiene audits and working to BRC or similar standards..
Experience working within cross-functional production teams.
