Cirrus Logic is looking for an IC EMC Engineer to join our EMC Engineering team in Edinburgh. You will help improve the electromagnetic compatibility of advanced mixed-signal ICs through simulation, test development and silicon validation.
You will work closely with IC design, package design, PCB design, and systems teams to identify and resolve EMC risks across our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with IC design teams to optimise RF emissions and immunity performance.
- Perform EMC simulations for new IC, package and ASIC technologies.
- Develop and execute IC EMC tests for emissions and immunity.
- Conduct measurements in accordance with IEC 61967, IEC 62132, CISPR 32, CISPR 25 and ISO 11452
- Use EMC test equipment such as TEM cells, stripline fixtures and immunity surface-scan systems.
- Design EMC evaluation PCBs, including test ICs and supporting circuitry.
- Analyse test results and recommend improvements to product performance.
- Provide technical input to customer-facing documentation.
- Support customer engagements and occasional customer visits.
- Improve EMC design and test methodologies across the product portfolio.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in IC EMC, RF EMC or related EMC validation.
- Proven experience with automotive EMC standards, procedures and test methods, including ISO 11452 and ISO 16750
- Strong practical experience conducting EMC measurements and analysing test results.
- Understanding of how electromagnetic interference affects ICs at system level and how IC behaviour can influence overall EMC compliance.
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB design.
- Experience using Python, LabVIEW or similar tools for test automation and data analysis.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- A self-motivated, collaborative and methodical approach.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of simulation tools such as ADS and/or HyperLynx.
- Experience with portable consumer products and mixed-signal analogue and digital design.
- Experience with ESD simulators, RF immunity amplifiers, network analysers, spectrum analysers or GSM testers such as the CMU200.
- Practical SMT hand-soldering experience.
- Experience supporting customers or producing technical documentation.
This position is based in Edinburgh, UK and is mostly office- and laboratory-based.
Regular attendance in the office and EMC laboratory is expected to support hands-on testing, collaboration and equipment use.Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Edinburgh or be willing to relocate before starting employment.
