Implementation Design Manager

Drive Critical Infrastructure Projects in a Highly Regulated Environment

Our Client has a requirement for an Implementation Design Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Plymouth.

Role Purpose:

Assist and support the Design & Safety Manager in the delivery of project scope across multiple infrastructure work packages.
Support the development, leadership, management and coordination of technical work packages during the implementation phase.
Ensure design documentation meets operational requirements and is delivered to agreed standards, schedules and budgets.
Support effective project implementation planning and contribute to technical planning activities.
Ensure compliance with Quality Management Arrangements, Business Management Systems and Technical Manuals.
Manage project documentation, records, configuration control and quality requirements.
Support the implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements within design activities.
Liaise with Technical Authorities to ensure the application of relevant good practice.
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the engineering team and wider project environment.
Ensure personnel understand project hazards and risks through effective communication and risk management practices.
Job Role Responsibilities:

Support the leadership and coordination of multidisciplinary engineering and design resources.
Assist in managing technical performance and making appropriate engineering management decisions.
Monitor the production and quality of engineering deliverables.
Work collaboratively with project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Ensure engineering activities are delivered in accordance with industry legislation, codes, standards and company procedures.
Contribute to planning, budgeting and resource management activities.
Support compliance with design, health & safety and quality requirements.
Maintain project records and ensure robust configuration management controls are applied.
Identify and escalate technical and safety concerns where appropriate.
Support the delivery of infrastructure upgrades within a regulated and safety-critical environment.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
Chartered Engineer status, working towards Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent experience.
Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear and/or marine systems knowledge.
Sound understanding and application of relevant industry legislation, codes and standards.
Experience of design management, systems engineering, planning and budgetary control.
Knowledge of facility infrastructure design and installation.
Understanding of construction techniques employed for nuclear safety-related structures and systems.
Experience working within highly regulated, safety-critical environments.
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of design, health & safety and quality management requirements.
