About the Company:

Our client is a well-established and growing freight forwarding company, specialising in comprehensive air, sea, and road logistics solutions. With a strong presence in the market and a commitment to customer service, they are now seeking an experienced Import Export Shipping Manager to lead two operational teams based at their Romford site.

The Role:

This is a key leadership position responsible for managing both the import and export teams. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day freight operations, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and driving performance across both departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop two operational teams (import and export). Handle appraisals, training, and day-to-day team performance.
• Freight Operations: Oversee full import/export processes across air, sea, and road, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
• Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong working relationships with clients, carriers, hauliers, and internal departments.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all customs documentation and procedures are correctly followed in line with UK and international regulations.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for efficiency and process improvement.
• Reporting: Produce performance and shipment reports for senior management.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in freight forwarding, with strong exposure to both import and export logistics.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing operational teams.
• Excellent knowledge of customs clearance processes and international shipping documentation.
• Confident communicator with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in freight systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
