Are you an Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Improver, Mate, or Junior Engineer looking to step up your career and expand your skills across both HVAC and commercial refrigeration systems?

Due to new contract wins across North East England, we are seeking a motivated, keen, and enthusiastic Junior / Improver Engineer to join our mobile service and installation team.

Working alongside experienced Senior Engineers, you will assist with the installation, servicing, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and fault-finding across commercial air conditioning (splits, VRVs, AHUs) and commercial refrigeration plant (walk-in fridges/freezers, display cabinets, cellars, and bottle coolers).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist senior engineers with routine servicing, maintenance, and diagnostics on AC units (splits, VRV/VRF, AHUs) and commercial refrigeration equipment (cold rooms, display fridges, freezers).

*

Support installation and refurbishment projects, including pipework insulation, containment, brazing, pressure testing, and evacuation.

*

Carry out basic PPM checks, filter changes, condenser coil cleaning, and F-Gas leak testing.

*

Assist with fault-finding on electrical controls, compressors, thermostatic expansion valves, and temperature controllers.

*

Maintain accurate digital job sheets and compliance logs on mobile tablet systems.

*

Uphold high health & safety standards across all commercial client sites.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

*

Qualifications: City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas Category 1 (Essential).

*

Attitude: Highly motivated, keen to learn, reliable, and excited to work on both air conditioning and commercial refrigeration systems.

*

Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience as an AC/Refrigeration Mate, Assistant, or Trainee Engineer.

*

Licence: Full UK Driving Licence (Essential for mobile travel).

*

Location: Based in North East England (Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Teesside, or surrounding areas).
