Job Description - Inclusion mentor

Inclusion Mentor

  • 1-year fixed-term contract
  • Salary: From £29,572 FTE (£25,663 Actual Salary TTO 39 Weeks)
  • Location: Milton Keynes
  • Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person's life in Milton Keynes? Do you possess excellent interpersonal skills and a calm, non-judgmental demeanor under pressure? Join us as an Inclusion Mentor in an exciting and forward-looking Alternative Education setting, where we are dedicated to building brighter futures and improving the life chances of some of the most vulnerable young people in the area.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide calm and caring support in a busy environment, effectively handling conflict resolution as part of daily activities.
  • Support students in improving their behaviour and engagement with learning within the educational setting.
  • Lead and support inclusion interventions and manage associated inclusion mentors.
  • Engage with young people using creative and imaginative methods to enhance resilience and effective access to education.
  • Build strong relationships across a diverse community, understanding individual barriers to learning and communicating effectively to foster better understanding and inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and students, communicating in a professional yet relatable manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in a mentorship or educational support role, preferably within an alternative education setting.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, demonstrating passion for holistic education.
  • Creative and imaginative approach to engaging and supporting young people.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Empathy and the ability to view situations from multiple perspectives.
