Your new companyA well-established and values-led housing organisation is seeking an experienced Income Officer to join the Rent team on a temporary basis. With a strong focus on supporting communities and sustaining tenancies, the organisation manages a diverse housing portfolio and is committed to delivering excellent customer service while ensuring rental income is effectively managed. Your new roleAs an Income Officer, you will take ownership of a designated patch, manage rent accounts and support customers to sustain their tenancies. You will work proactively to reduce arrears, maximise income collection and provide tailored support to residents experiencing financial difficulties. Key responsibilities will include:
Managing rent accounts and monitoring arrears across a designated portfolio. Contacting customers through a variety of channels to prevent and recover debt. Negotiating realistic repayment arrangements and monitoring adherence. Providing advice and signposting around welfare benefits, Universal Credit and financial inclusion. Preparing cases and representing the organisation at court where necessary. Working collaboratively with Housing Officers and external agencies to sustain tenancies and prevent evictions. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in income management, rent recovery or housing management. A strong understanding of welfare benefits, Universal Credit and arrears recovery processes. Experience managing challenging conversations and negotiating positive outcomes. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise workloads effectively. Experience preparing court documentation would be advantageous.What you'll get in return
