Job Description - Industrial Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager - Industrial Direct Sales
  • Annual Salary: £65,000 - £80,000 + Bonus
  • Location: West London, Hybrid working
  • Job Type: Permanent

Reed are working with a leading independent B2B energy supplier who are looking for an Industrial Business Development Manager. This new addition to the team will play a crucial role in driving new business growth within the group.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Secure and manage accounts with energy consumption between approximately 25GWh and 100GWh, spanning both electricity and gas sectors.
  • Establish and nurture long-term client relationships, ensuring consistent engagement and satisfaction.
  • Lead and coordinate complex tender processes from initial enquiry through to deal acceptance, ensuring efficient and professional bid management to secure renewals and negotiate favourable contract terms.
  • Develop and implement growth strategies aimed at maximising financial returns and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including emerging markets, industry trends, potential clients, partnerships, and innovative products or services.
  • Proactively generate leads and conduct cold outreach to prospective customers.
  • Organise and attend meetings with potential clients to explore business opportunities.
  • Promote the company’s offerings, aligning solutions with client needs and anticipating future requirements.
  • Deliver pre-sales support and provide reliable, insightful feedback to inform decision-making.
  • Support the planning and execution of sales campaigns, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Build and manage a targeted sales pipeline, focusing on specific market segments.
  • Collaborate with the Trading Desk to define pricing strategies and deal structures that enhance value propositions and drive growth.
  • Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to management, offering insights into account health, renewal rates, revenue trends, and opportunities for further development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a confident, credible, and persuasive presence.
  • Strong understanding of the UK energy markets, including key trends and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and selling both fixed and flexible energy contracts.
  • Entrepreneurial approach, consistently delivering added value and driving business growth.
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Highly adaptable, innovative, and customer-focused, with a strong sense of purpose.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and accountable, with a willingness to take ownership and suggest improvements.
  • Skilled at influencing internal stakeholders, aligning teams around strategic goals, product innovation, and delivering profitable customer outcomes.
