Infrastructure Engineer

Arcas Technology is working with a well-established organisation seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Systems Administrator to join their IT team. This permanent role will be responsible for overseeing and supporting core IT systems to ensure they remain secure, reliable, and performant, while maintaining appropriate service levels on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:

• Managing and supporting core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, and VPN.
• Providing day-to-day support for systems used by approximately 2000 users.
• Conducting system checks, performing vulnerability assessments, and resolving issues to ensure high availability and integrity.
• Supporting and maintaining VMware and Windows Server environments.
• Managing MacOS devices through MDM platforms.
• Administering FortiGate firewalls and Aruba networking infrastructure (switching and wireless).
• Operating Veeam Backup for disaster recovery and data protection.
• Collaborating with IT leadership on strategic improvements and roadmaps.
• Acting as a third-line escalation point for the wider IT support team.
• Leading small-scale infrastructure projects and providing technical training to peers.
• Working independently to troubleshoot complex issues and liaise with vendors as required.

Key Skills:

• Minimum of five years in IT systems administration or infrastructure support roles.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, and VPN technologies.
• Proficiency with VMware and Windows Server management.
• Experience managing MacOS devices via MDM solutions.
• Knowledge of FortiGate firewalls and Aruba switching/wireless solutions.
• Familiarity with Veeam Backup and general data protection best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities across infrastructure layers.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an IT team.
• Comfortable engaging with stakeholders and third-party vendors.
• Experience leading technical improvement projects and providing peer training.
