Job Description - Instrument Technician

Job Description

Job Specification: Instrument Technician - FIFE, SCOTLAND ONSITE FULLTIME + OT
Main Functions
Install and maintain instrument equipment : Follow all rules and practices.
Test and repair instrumentation systems : Ensure production equipment meets performance and quality standards.
Evaluate and repair instruments : Plan repairs, document, and verify problems and actions taken.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Plan and oversee activities : Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and procedures, emphasizing health, safety, and the environment.
Encourage team effort : Collaborate with operations, engineering, and projects groups.
Review control specifications : Provide input on work practices and ensure quality control systems as per the Work Management Manual.
Apply work permits : Use the Permit To Work System (PTWS) as outlined in the Work Management Manual.
Ensure timely work completion : Follow the Maintenance Program schedule.
Develop technical skills : Stay updated with new regulations, equipment, and methods; attend and instruct technical meetings.
Maintain open communication : Discuss control issues, safe work practices, training, and materials with co-workers.
Support work prioritization : Maximize effectiveness and complement other work groups' efforts.
Provide technical support : Assist other technicians with maintenance and troubleshooting of instrument systems.
Generate Management of Change requests (MOCs) : Follow up with installation inspections per Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Element 3.
Monitor new installations : Ensure consistency with mission and recommend upgrades as necessary.
Act as stand-in for Instrument Lead : Take on leadership responsibilities as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Associate’s degree, preferably with additional technical courses.
Experience in maintaining Instruments and Controls in processing or offshore production plants.
General Technical Skills :
Knowledge of regulations for oil and gas facilities operations.
Familiarity with OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures.
