Primary Responsibilities And Duties
The purpose of this position is managing of all placed insurance covers for certain vessels of the Fleet(s), as required.
Risk Assessment: Identify risks in co-ordination with Senior Management, Operations, Chartering, Crew Marine, Technical, Legal.
Post Placement / Declarations Administration & Record keeping.
Manage and oversee all marine insurance policies on a daily basis, ensuring all documents and certificates are current and accurate.
Supply and verify Certificates of Entry, H&M Confirmations, policy Endorsements, Carrier codes, SPRO agreements, and other necessary certificates to relevant stakeholders at various stages (pre-delivery, delivery, trading).
Assist Marine/Operations with issuance of specific certificates (CLC, Bunker CLC, Wreck Removal, COFR, Californian COFR) and cooperate with Claims and Legal teams for claims administration and notifications.
Ensure prompt receipt and accuracy of insurance invoices, and coordinate with the Accounts department for timely submission and processing to maintain smooth insurance-related accounting.
Create and update insurance records, including rates, premiums, delivery/redelivery dates, inception dates, and claims databases. Maintain the Insurance Tab on the Intranet.
Loss prevention: Gather information on new issues & share at a large audience through posters, alerts, bulletins.
Additional Duties
Liaise with various departments and provide insurance-related advice and assistance on daily matters. Maintain relationships with external entities.
Assist the Group Insurance Director with insurance placements, renewals, claims handling, annual budget, new insurance projects, and loss prevention initiatives.
Ensure accurate records for fleet insurance renewals.
Experience
Minimum 10 – 15 years on Marine Insurance practice, P&I and H&M Claims
Experience in a Shipping Company or P&I Club (preferred)
Competencies
Understanding of Shipping, Marine Insurance Hull & P&I Claims;
Attention to detail;
Ability to sift through extensive documentation efficiently;
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
Bilingual proficiency in Italian and English is highly preferred.
Qualifications
Insurance Professional Accreditation (i.e. ACII/FCII or equivalent) (preferred)
LLM (Maritime Law)
Marine Insurance Diploma
Post Graduate Management Degree
