Position: Underwriting Expert
Type: Contract
Compensation: $70–$95/hour
Location: Remote

Role Responsibilities

• Build long-horizon underwriting tasks with deterministic rubrics for agent performance evaluation.
• Develop scenarios in submission and triage including submission intake, risk classification, and referral memos.
• Create risk assessment and pricing scenarios with exposure analysis, quote preparation, and surplus lines processing.
• Construct issuance and brokerage scenarios including bind and issue preparation and broker correspondence.
• Ensure tasks have checkable answers without subjective judgment calls.
• Work independently and focus on challenging scenarios to improve AI model performance.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• 3+ years in commercial, specialty, or personal lines underwriting at a carrier, MGA, or wholesale broker.
• Expertise in a specific line of business, rating and pricing manuals, surplus lines processing, or broker relationship management.
• Experience with an underwriting platform like Duck Creek, Guidewire, or carrier systems.
• Ability to read and produce underwriting artifacts such as submission packages, risk reports, and quote letters.
• Clear written communication skills to articulate reasoning and encode it into deterministic rubrics.
