Integrated Product Support – Section Lead (Supportability)

Full Time

Derby – Hybrid (3 days minimum in office)

The “Integrated Product Support” team is focused on making sure that the support solution for future designs of submarine is set up to optimise boat availability and cost. Key activities include design influence, identifying and integrating key support activities (e.g. maintenance, spares, support equipment, etc) and producing technical documentation.

Supportability influence is a key business topic at present. It is a vitally important we get the support solution right for Dreadnought, SSNA and beyond.

The projects will be incredibly fast paced with delivery dates which are challenging.  It is essential the applicant is pragmatic, proactive, and comfortable with managing ambiguity.  This is an exciting time to join what is a growing part of the Services DBU.

  • You will be responsible for the delivery of work packages using a wide network of internal and external resources to satisfy technical requirements within time and cost constraints.
  • You will provide programme and technical leadership and comply with the Engineering function's policies throughout the lifecycle of your work packages
  • You will communicate the plan and budget for delivering the work.
  • You will ensure programmes of work are managed within the prescribed technical programme management and quality management processes.

What you will be doing:  

As part of the team, you will be:

  • Acting as Section Lead across varying tasks and projects.  Coordinating within the business to ensure timely delivery & quality 
  • Coordinating & collaborating with the wider enterprise & Customer to resolve technical issues
  • Attend enterprise-wide integration meetings
  • Producing technical reports and letters, as required
  • Managing a team of skilled engineers and ensuring governance and technical output is achieved on time and to standard.

Position Qualifications:  

  • Must have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent level of continuous professional development and experience.
  • Ideally have experience of design work related to a submarine NSRP.
  • Willingness for integration and collaboration across the business & wider enterprise.
  • Knowledge of Submarine NSRP system &/or Secondary System desirable

For more than 60 years Rolls-Royce Submarines has designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant, providing power for all UK Royal Navy nuclear submarines. 

 To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines an individual must hold a Security Check clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t already have it. Due to the nature of work we conduct, we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.

Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk. 

The professional level and the salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
