Interim Chief Technology Officer - 9 months +
Overview
This is a critical role for an experienced people and technology focussed CTO to come in to an established global organisation to drive and deliver change that fosters lasting success.

Reporting directly to the CEO the CTO role is fundamental to in driving an ongoing transformation programme, and doing this from both both an organisational, and digital perspective.

The role requires someone who is happy being a visible technology leader and one who can work closely and collaboratively within a team of 6 ELT members to drive forward the organisations ambitions and plans for transformation.

Experience of working in large enterprise level commercial companies and experience working in the Civil Service / or Central Government is also a must.

The role will involve driving forward the development and implementation of the technology strategy with a strong focus on the wellbeing of the team (200 heads) and ensuing that a structure is in place to ensure optimal operational efficiency going forward, as such, it is critical that the interim CTO is both a technology, and people leader.

The role
Review the current Technology Function structure, implement effective change where appropriate and provide direction to the technology function.
Develop an inspiring and motivational culture by building and supporting their team. Championing a harmonised, supportive, innovative and engaged ‘can do’ and ‘fail fast’ culture where staff are able to innovate and experiment with new ways to achieve against the technology strategy.
Develop and implement a Technology strategy and plan for this financial year that drives down cost and brings agility, efficiency, and continuous improvement,
Work with technology partners to ensure they play their part in achieving business goals through technology driven change, leveraging their capabilities and building in skills transfer.
Providing expert advice and insight regarding industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain leading-edge best practice and secure competitive advantage in a rapidly changing industry. Be an educator, a coach and an evangelist for technology across the whole organisation.
Responsible for ensuring critical infrastructure is maintained and reliable and that there is operational resilience.

You will be / have:
A credible strategic leader, with a background that demonstrates a strong track record of innovation and delivering positive sustainable change, developing capabilities and services.
You will understand how to shape technology strategies that align resources, quality, and infrastructure to meet business goals.
You will be an outstanding people leader, able to inspire, engage and develop people and teams at all levels
Experience working in as a CTO in a complex organisation where it has been required to build, motivate and inspire technology teams through periods of ambiguity; comfortable with working in a complex environment and across organisational boundaries to deliver outcomes.
Knowledge and experience of the public sector, its main underpinning principles and ethical basis and its governance and accountability framework
