Experienced Children's Home Manager – Interim Opportunity

Are you an experienced Children's Home Manager or Registered Manager looking for your next interim assignment?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Children's Home Manager to take operational responsibility for a 3-bed children's home in the Luton area, supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and associated needs.

This is a hands-on interim management position, ideally suited to someone who can step into a service quickly, establish strong leadership and maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance from day one.

The initial assignment is for a minimum of 3 months, with the potential for extension depending on the needs of the service.

The Assignment

You will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the home, providing clear leadership to the staff team and ensuring children receive safe, consistent and high-quality care.

Key priorities will include:

* Providing strong operational leadership to a 3-bed children's home.

* Leading, managing and supporting the residential childcare team.

* Ensuring safeguarding remains central to all aspects of practice.

* Maintaining compliance with Ofsted requirements and the Children's Homes Regulations.

* Reviewing and maintaining care plans, risk assessments and other key documentation.

* Ensuring appropriate staffing levels, rotas and resources are maintained.

* Supporting staff through supervision, performance management and development.

* Managing incidents effectively and ensuring appropriate follow-up.

* Working closely with social workers, families, education professionals and other agencies.

* Monitoring the quality of care and identifying areas for improvement.

* Preparing the service for monitoring visits and regulatory scrutiny.

* Ensuring the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose, policies and procedures.

* Providing stability, consistency and strong leadership throughout the interim period.

What We're Looking For

This assignment requires someone who can hit the ground running.

You will ideally have:

* Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Children's Home Manager or experienced Deputy Manager.

* A strong background in children's residential care.

* Experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and/or complex needs.

* A thorough understanding of safeguarding and children's residential legislation.

* Good knowledge of Ofsted expectations and the Children's Homes Regulations.

* Proven experience managing and developing residential childcare teams.

* The confidence to make decisions, manage risk and provide clear leadership.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* A professional, solutions-focused approach.

* The ability to quickly assess a service, identify priorities and take appropriate action.

A relevant Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or equivalent, is desirable.
