Job Description - Interim Commercial Consultant - 1 to 2 days PW

The Opportunity:
Nigel Wright has been appointed to support a university pre spinout organisation, with sourcing an interim commercial consultant to support its business planning, funding planning and early stage commercial engagement process.

Project Outline:

Working with the technical academic specialists and taking the lead on writing a commercialisation business plan.
Involvement in commercial discussions with possible future customers as required, to support the technical experts.
Working with the team to identify sources of next stage funding and preparing a plan for securing this.
Coaching the technical team and educating them on commercial approaches as the organisation works towards becoming a legal entity.
Likely to be circa 1-2 days per week, with project milestones triggering stage project payments. Will be in line with a £600 to £1,000 per day rate equivalent, dependent on number of days across the 4-6 month period.

Person Specification:

Exposure to pre-start / start--up / scale-up environments.
Skilled in commercial business planning and go to market strategies.
Experience of dealing with rounds of start-up / pre-start funding.
Commutable to the North East circa one day per week / one day per fortnight.
