Interim Financial Director

A leading privately owned business based in Leeds is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Director on an interim-to-permanent basis. This is a pivotal leadership role within a high-performing, service-driven organisation that delivers contracted services to a portfolio of blue-chip commercial clients across the UK.

As part of the senior leadership team, the Financial Director will play a key role in steering the company’s financial strategy, ensuring robust financial management, and driving commercial insight through contract pricing and performance analysis. This is a hands-on position, managing and mentoring a Financial Controller and wider finance team, while also working closely with commercial teams to support profitability and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the finance function, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and financial control
• Oversee the Financial Controller and finance team, supporting their development and delivery
• Provide commercial finance support, including the design and evaluation of contract pricing models
• Partner with operational and client-facing teams to drive financial performance and accountability
• Deliver timely and accurate management information, forecasts, and strategic insight to the board
• Support in commercial decision-making, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, reporting, and financial processes
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning
• Act as a key business partner to senior stakeholders across the organisation

Candidate Profile:

• A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong financial leadership experience
• Proven background at financial controller or financial director level
• Experience managing finance teams and driving performance in a dynamic, service-based environment
• Commercially astute with a clear understanding of pricing, margin analysis, and contract management
• Strong communicator with the confidence to operate at board level
• Experience in supporting an ERP systems implementation would be advantageous.
