Job Description - Interim Head of HR (12 month FTC)

Head of HR (12 Month FTC – London)


My client, a well regarded nationwide based organisation, is in the market for a Head of HR for 1 year to cover a period of maternity.


You will be responsible for delivery of a full HR operational advisory service working together with a senior stakeholder to lead the HR strategy across a client group of white and blue collar employee groups.


This is a nationwide role and experience in a similar, wide reaching business across multiple locations is a prerequisite.


The role will encompass both strategic and direct operational responsibility including day to day function management and proactive project work as required. You will work with and manage an established and experienced HR team with 4 direct reports.


Key responsibilities



  • Accountable for team organisation and divisional people strategy based on overall business strategy in line with corporate values and divisional strategy

  • Member of the management divisional board meeting, contributing data analysis/trends and recommendations

  • Driver of talent management and succession planning programmes to future proof and retain staff

  • Budget management with Finance Director ensuring headcount and costs are in line, suggesting efficiencies/cost reductions where appropriate

  • Employment law advisor, presenting risk v reward options, managing settlements and ET cases

  • Driver of Divisional change initiatives including organisational restructure, redundancy programmes, growth initiatives and goals determined from employee survey results

  • Driver of performance management culture, analysing outputs and recommending course of action for improvement

  • HR lead for promotions, salary review, bonuses, annual scorecards working in conjunction with Head of Division, Finance Director and Head of Departments

  • Management reporting, presenting analysis and recommendations to key leaders trends and concerns

  • Divisional promoter of reward, benefits and wellbeing offerings

  • HR Project Lead for divisional and corporate initiatives


To succeed in this role you need to be a forward thinking, proactive HR professional requiring minimal supervision.


This is a senior level HR position, as such you are expected to lead by example and set the standard.


Prior experience working at senior management level within retail, FMGC, and professional services environments would be advantageous.


The multi-site, nationwide remit is highly desirable.
