Job Description - Interim Head of Marketing

Interim Head of Marketing
  • Location: FE College based in Cheshire
  • Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover) - Until September 2026
  • Salary: £44,695 - £46,816 per annum

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Marketing and Communications to provide outstanding leadership and management of our Marketing team. This role is crucial for growing learner numbers across various provision types and ensuring the college's vision of being "Industry focused, career ready" is communicated effectively.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Lead and implement the Marketing, Recruitment, and Communications strategy, ensuring all marketing activity is targeted, coordinated, and evaluated.
  • Manage the Marketing department, providing operational line management and driving high performance.
  • Act as the brand guardian, developing the brand image and managing its application in all promotions, media, and events.
  • Lead the delivery of the digital marketing strategy, optimizing the usage and user experience of the college website and social media.
  • Conduct market, environmental, and competitor research to inform strategy, plans, and targets.
  • Develop and implement marketing campaign plans to achieve objectives and recruitment targets.
  • Manage the enquiries and applications process for students, enhancing the learner journey.
  • Develop the Alumni network, increasing engagement and promoting lifelong learning.
  • Provide regular updates to the Principal and Executive Team on the performance of the marketing department.
  • Develop links with external partners to build the college’s reputation and brand.
  • Ensure effective management of departmental budgets and resources.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in Marketing or related field and/or professional marketing qualifications (e.g., CIM).
  • Significant experience in developing and implementing successful marketing/communication strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead a high performing team to achieve challenging targets.
  • Experience in a College or University setting is desirable.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent understanding of diversity, social inclusion, GDPR, and marketing legislation.
  • Effective project management and research skills.
  • Demonstrable skills in budget management and financial reporting.
