Salary:   £55,000 per annum (pro rata)
Hours:   Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm - 4 days in office

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Interim Management Accountant to join a busy finance team within a fast-paced foodservice business. This is a three-month fixed-term contract, ideal for a hands-on accountant with FMCG, foodservice, wholesale or distribution experience who can quickly adapt and deliver accurate financial reporting to tight deadlines.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will support the production of weekly and monthly management accounts, maintain financial controls and provide meaningful financial analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Produce weekly flash P&L reports, including commentary on financial performance.
- Analyse variances against budget, forecast and prior year, working with operational managers to understand performance.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, stock accounting, fixed assets and lease accounting.
- Oversee intercompany and inter-depot reconciliations, alongside customer and supplier rebate accounting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and commentary for management and board reporting.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, sales commission calculations and ad-hoc projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and systems.

About You

- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant role, ideally within FMCG, foodservice, wholesale, distribution or manufacturing.
- Able to produce a full set of management accounts independently and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of stock accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Experience with lease accounting under IFRS 16/FRS 102.
- Advanced Excel skills, with experience using BI reporting tools such as Power BI advantageous.
- Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
