Interim Payroll Officer

Location: London (1-2 days per week onsite required)
Start Date: Within the next 2 weeks
Duration: 3 - 6 months initially
Rate: Up to £250 per day, depending on experience
Potential: Opportunity to convert to a permanent appointment

The Role
Working as part of a small payroll function, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across a complex and diverse workforce.

Payroll activities include:

Processing monthly payroll from start to finish
Variable hours and relief workers
Overtime and enhancements
Sleep-in payments
Sickness and absence-related payments
Salary sacrifice schemes and employee benefits
Multiple terms and conditions of employment
Pension administration and auto-enrolment
HMRC submissions and compliance
Payroll reconciliations and checking
Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting payroll reportingAbout You
We're keen to hear from payroll professionals who can demonstrate:

Solid end-to-end payroll processing experience
Experience working with complex payrolls and multiple employee groups
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pensions administration
Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, social care, healthcare or wider public sector environments would be advantageous
Experience processing variable pay, overtime, enhancements and absence-related payments
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to payroll accuracy
Good Excel and payroll systems experience
Exposure to payroll systems implementation, migration, process improvement or wider change programmes would be beneficial
Ability to work effectively in a busy environment and meet strict payroll deadlines
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to identify and resolve payroll issuesNext Steps
