Location: Essex (Hybrid Working)
Contract: Interim | Full-Time | 6 Months
Rate: £600 per day (Umbrella)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Repairs Contract Manager to join a large social housing provider on an interim basis.
This key role sits within the Repairs & Maintenance function and is responsible for ensuring contractor performance, service quality, compliance, resident satisfaction, and financial targets are delivered in line with contractual requirements. The successful candidate will bring significant experience in repairs and maintenance contract management and be capable of driving performance whilst maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage contractor performance against contractual obligations and KPI targets.
Ensure contract delivery is carried out within agreed financial parameters and budgets.
Oversee quality assurance standards, workmanship, and material compliance.
Ensure effective subcontractor management and compliance controls are maintained.
Manage and approve variation requests in line with contractual requirements.
Develop and implement improvement plans to address performance or compliance issues.
Drive positive customer outcomes and an excellent repairs journey for residents.
Build and maintain productive relationships with contractors and key stakeholders.
Ensure complaints are managed effectively and in accordance with Housing Ombudsman Complaint Handling Code requirements.
Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and value for money.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

A degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
Professional membership with a recognised body such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent.
Extensive knowledge of repairs and maintenance contracts, building legislation, building safety, and health & safety regulations.
Significant experience managing contractor performance, compliance, and service delivery within a housing environment.
Strong understanding of statutory, regulatory, and best practice requirements relating to repairs and maintenance.
Experience of procurement processes and contract management frameworks.
Ability to gather, analyse, and interpret complex performance data.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Extensive experience producing and monitoring operational and assurance KPIs.
Experience preparing and presenting reports to a variety of audiences, including senior stakeholders.
Demonstrable experience working with residents and resident groups to improve service delivery.
