Rate: Hourly/Daily Rate - TBC

This contract opportunity offers the chance join a Kent Local Authority as a Section 151 Officer / Chief Finance Officer. The role involves leading a full range of accountancy, financial management, treasury management and governance functions, supporting the Authority's strategic objectives and statutory responsibilities.

You can make a significant contribution to a progressive public authority, improving their processes and priorities.

Key responsibilities

Lead the preparation and management of revenue and capital budgets.
Oversee budget monitoring and financial reporting.
Annual Statement of Accounts and manage the year-end closure process.
Lead treasury management activities and investment strategy.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Liaise with auditors, banking partners, and other key stakeholders.
Lead the Annual Governance Statement and Local Code of Corporate Governance.
Support the Authority's strategic planning and efficiency programmes.

Strong financial management supporting the Authority's priorities.
Excellent audit outcomes and governance standards.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant with significant experience in senior financial management, within the public sector, and be eligible to undertake the statutory duties of a Section 151 Officer.
