Warehouse Manager

Location: Torfaen
Salary: £45-50,000 DOE
Hours: Mon-Friday 40hrs +
Contract: Full-time 3 months contract possibility of extending

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Warehouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of our warehouse, ensuring the efficient management of inventory, people, processes and systems.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the warehouse team, ensuring goods are received, stored and dispatched correctly while maintaining the highest standards of health & safety, food safety and quality.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can identify opportunities for improvement, implement effective solutions and respond confidently to the changing demands of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily warehouse operations in line with company policies, procedures and objectives.

Lead, motivate, develop and support the warehouse team.

Ensure goods are received, stored and dispatched accurately and efficiently.

Maintain accurate inventory levels and reconcile physical stock against ERP and warehouse management systems.

Monitor and report on warehouse performance, productivity and operational effectiveness.

Maintain an organised, safe and efficient warehouse environment.

Ensure compliance with all health & safety requirements and company procedures.

Maintain compliance with food quality and food safety standards, taking immediate action where irregularities are identified.

Work closely with internal departments, external suppliers, customers and service providers.

Identify areas for improvement and implement new or improved processes and working practices.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of warehouse data within the ERP system.

Prepare warehouse schedules, coordinate training and support customer visits and audits.

Ensure the warehouse is fully prepared for customer and compliance audits.

Manage working time requirements and ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation.

Oversee planned maintenance of forklifts, vehicles and other warehouse equipment.

Support the implementation of internal training and on-the-job training programmes.

Provide regular performance feedback and communicate expectations clearly to the warehouse team.

Respond effectively to unplanned events and adjust operational plans and schedules as required.

Operate a forklift truck when required.

Participate in relevant projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a confident and capable warehouse professional with proven leadership experience and a strong understanding of warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.

You will have:

Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Team Leader or Warehouse Manager.

Experience working within a manufacturing environment, ideally within food production.

Knowledge of warehouse processes, inventory control and continuous improvement.

Experience using warehouse management or ERP systems.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Demonstrable leadership and people-management skills.

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.

A strong understanding of quality, food safety and workplace safety requirements.

The confidence to identify issues, raise concerns and take appropriate action.

A proactive approach with the ability to identify and implement improvements.

A strong sense of accountability and ownership.

The ability to build positive working relationships across departments and with external partners.

A positive attitude and the ability to act as a role model for the warehouse team.

Food Industry Experience

Experience within the food manufacturing sector is highly desirable. You should have a good understanding of HACCP, GMP and GHP standards and the importance of maintaining high levels of food quality and safety throughout warehouse operations.

The successful candidate must also be medically fit to work within a food production environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum secondary education.

Proven warehouse leadership experience.

Experience within a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of ERP/warehouse management systems.

*

Forklift experience is desirable.

*

Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and GHP is highly desirable.
