Job Description - Internal Sales

Placr Recruitment is currently working with a well-established and reputable electrical wholesaler who is looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Internal Sales Representative to join their busy branch team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused individual with electrical wholesale or trade sales experience who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

To support the branch in achieving sales and margin targets by delivering excellent customer service, building strong trade relationships, and proactively developing new and existing accounts.

The role involves daily communication with customers and suppliers, both face-to-face at the trade counter and over the telephone, to ensure profitable business growth and long-term customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

Answer incoming telephone calls and serve customers at the trade counter, handling enquiries, orders, quotations, and pricing queries efficiently and professionally.

Process sales orders accurately and follow up on quotations to maximise conversion rates.

Provide product information and technical guidance across a range of electrical products including cable, lighting, accessories, and switchgear.

Liaise with suppliers to negotiate special pricing and terms for larger or project-based orders.

Maintain and grow existing customer accounts through strong relationship management and proactive communication.

Conduct outbound calls to dormant accounts and identify potential new customers using industry directories and online resources.

Support local promotions and merchandising activities, including maintaining attractive and up-to-date counter displays.

Complete daily counter and operational checklists to ensure smooth branch operations.

Assist in other areas of the branch as required, including stores and occasional deliveries if necessary.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Previous internal sales experience, ideally within an electrical wholesale or trade distribution environment.

Strong product knowledge of electrical materials (highly desirable).

Commercially aware with a clear focus on margin and profitability.

Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven.

Confident using computerised systems (ERP/CRM) and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

Additional Information

The role operates largely autonomously on a day-to-day basis, reporting into the Branch Manager.

Frequent interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal staff.

Occasional flexibility may be required to meet business needs.
