An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Internal Sales Engineer to join an established and successful engineering business based in Shipley, West Yorkshire.
Working within a knowledgeable and supportive team, you will be responsible for specifying, quoting and managing engineered valve and actuator packages for customers operating across a diverse range of industrial and process sectors.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background in engineering, technical sales or internal sales who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with customer service and commercial responsibility.
Reporting to the Sales Director, you will manage customer requirements from initial enquiry and technical specification through to quotation, order and final delivery.
Full product and industry training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Review customer enquiries and technical requirements to specify suitable valve and actuator packages.
Prepare accurate quotations, estimates and technical proposals.
Manage customer orders from initial enquiry through to delivery and completion.
Liaise with suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing.
Provide technical and commercial support to customers.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure orders and customer requirements are delivered effectively.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers across a variety of industrial sectors.
Ensure pricing, margins and commercial considerations are managed effectively throughout the quotation and order process.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong commercial awareness and is confident dealing with customers, suppliers and technical specifications.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience within an engineering, technical sales, internal sales or similar environment.
Experience preparing quotations and managing customer enquiries.
Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of pricing, margins and cost structures.
The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
Good communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive and organised approach to managing enquiries and orders.
Experience within mechanical engineering, valves, actuators, fluid control, instrumentation or a related technical field would be advantageous.
