Job Description - Internal Sales Engineer

For over 40 years, Newson Gale has been leading the way in hazardous area static grounding control, globally serving industries where processes generating static electricity have the potential to ignite flammable or combustible atmospheres. The Newson Gale product range mitigates static charge accumulation by using practical and innovative design, and ensures effective static control on three levels – grounding and bonding clamps, visual verification and interlockable control systems.

Being a market leading global brand, our small team of Internal Sales Engineers play a pivotal role in maintaining our competitive edge.

We are looking for a technically minded sales Engineer to join our team to cover a period of maternity leave, with the possibility of a permanent position in the future.

The Role
This role is a fixed term contract covering a period of maternity leave, but with continued expansion they may be the opportunity to secure a permanent role either within internal sales or in a field based role.

Based at our Nottingham site, as our Internal Sales Engineer you will provide day to day support to our customers from first contact through to sale. You will adopt a customer centric approach being subject matter experts in electrostatic earthing & bonding equipment. You will offer both telephone and email support, conducting live virtual/digital demonstrations to ensure our customers have the information they need to make the right purchase for their business.

What will you be doing?

Lead / Enquiry Qualification:
Qualify inbound leads and enquiries using the BANT-C method qualification, ensuring compliance to ISO/IEC 80079-34:2018 and internal quality assurance procedures, acting as the first point of contact for most enquiries.
Adopt a technical / standards driven approach to determine customer’s application and Ex certification requirements, using the information gathered to confidently determine a next course of action: referral to external Sales Engineer (site visit) or Engineering Department (technical support), online product demonstration, or direct quotation.
Effectively demonstrate Newson Gale’s product range to customers in a digital environment.
Issue quotations in accordance with internal quality assurance procedures, ensuring they reflect customer requirements. This includes quoting against site reports issued by external salespeople.
Ensure all information is uploaded to the CRM system (Salesforce) in accordance with company operating procedure.
Attend trade shows.
Embody and project the 3Ts of the Challenger Sales Professional (Teach, Tailor, Take Control), always taking a customer centric approach.

Pipeline management:
Effectively monitor the UK sales pipeline, enabling an accurate contribution to UK sales forecasts, reporting to the Regional Sales Manager.
Prioritise workload according to current UK market conditions.
Proactively influence and close orders in-line with forecasts.
Digitally demo our products to potential customers

Team Ethos & Target Management:
Work in partnership with external Sales Engineer / Regional Sales Manager to achieve UK sales targets.
Task/opportunity transfer between internal and external team members is expected to optimise customer service levels.
Provide support for all inbound telephone calls.
Provide cover for order entry into Defacto system and other sales regions when required.

Total Quality Management (TQM):
Process orders received in accordance with internal quality assurance procedures.
Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure terms of sale (payment, delivery etc.) are established prior to order acceptance.
Maintain vigilance over export compliance.

Are East Midlands based, preferable Nottingham

It would also be beneficial if you:
Knowledge of hazardous area (ATEX) environments, certification, and equipment protection concepts

Please note, due to the benefits of working collaboratively as apart of a team, this role will require you to attend site in Colwick, Nottingham 5 days a week. Limited availability for hybrid working.
