In-Work Support Officer

Location: West Yorkshire (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Kirklees & Calderdale)

Salary: £30,000–£32,000

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about helping people sustain employment, overcome workplace barriers and progress in their careers?

We are looking for an In-Work Support Officer to provide practical guidance and ongoing support to individuals who have moved into employment. You will help participants settle into work, overcome challenges and build the confidence and skills needed to achieve sustainable employment and longer-term progression.

This role would suit an experienced Progress Coach, Employment Coach, Employability Adviser or In-Work Support professional who enjoys working with people and helping them succeed beyond the point of entering employment.

Our client operates within the employability and skills sector, supporting individuals across West Yorkshire to achieve sustainable employment and progress towards their longer-term goals.

Working across Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale, the organisation provides practical support designed to help individuals overcome barriers and succeed in the workplace.

• Provide ongoing in-work support and coaching to individuals who have progressed into employment.


• Build trusted relationships with participants and provide practical, personalised support.


• Help individuals identify and overcome barriers that could affect their ability to remain in work.


• Provide guidance around workplace expectations, communication, confidence and professional behaviours.


• Monitor participant progress and identify appropriate interventions where additional support is required.


• Work with individuals to develop their confidence, skills and longer-term career aspirations.


• Liaise with employers and relevant stakeholders where appropriate to support positive employment outcomes.


• Maintain accurate records of participant engagement, progress and support activity.


• Support individuals to sustain employment and make positive progression towards their longer-term goals.

• Experience as a Progress Coach, Employment Coach, Employability Adviser, In-Work Support Officer or similar role.


• Experience supporting individuals into or within employment.


• Strong understanding of the challenges people can face when starting or sustaining employment.


• Confident providing coaching, mentoring, advice and practical support.


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with participants and employers.


• Able to motivate individuals and build their confidence through periods of challenge or change.


• Well organised, proactive and able to manage multiple participants and priorities.


• Experience within employability, welfare-to-work, skills, recruitment or employment support would be beneficial.

• Salary of £30,000–£32,000.
