ECS Resource Group is recruiting IT Asset Technicians to support a large-scale laptop recovery and IT asset management project based in Wokingham.
Our client is recovering approximately 3,500 laptops from home-based employees across the UK. Each device needs to be received, recorded, processed and prepared for recycling or onward shipment.
We're looking for individuals with basic IT hardware knowledge, ideally gained through IT support, desktop deployments, hardware refresh projects or IT asset management.
This isn't a traditional IT Support Engineer position, and advanced technical skills aren't required. However, you will need to be comfortable working with laptops, accessing BIOS settings and following straightforward technical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving, checking and processing returned laptops and IT equipment. Accessing laptop BIOS settings and removing BIOS passwords using supplied credentials and documented procedures. Recording and updating device information within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Checking asset details, serial numbers and device records for accuracy. Supporting the preparation of laptops for recycling or onward processing. Scheduling and coordinating DPD collections from remote employees across the UK. Managing the booking in and dispatch of IT equipment. Identifying and escalating missing, damaged or incorrectly recorded devices. Supporting general IT asset management and stock control activities.
Skills & Experience Required
Basic understanding of IT hardware, particularly laptops and PCs. Comfortable accessing BIOS settings and following technical instructions. Previous experience in IT support, hardware deployments, IT asset management or a similar environment would be beneficial. Good administration and data entry skills, including spreadsheets and asset tracking systems. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow structured processes. Organised, reliable and comfortable working in a busy, high-volume environment. Willingness to undertake light manual handling of IT equipment.
Desirable Experience
Laptop deployment, hardware refresh or device recovery projects. IT Asset Management (ITAM) or IT Asset Disposal (ITAD). Previous use of CMDB or IT inventory systems. Experience working with courier booking systems or IT equipment logistics.
