IT Manager

An established and highly impactful organisation in Thetford is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead its IT infrastructure, systems security, and digital transformation on a permanent basis.

This is great opportunity for an experienced IT professional who wants to utilise and build on their existing technical skill set while also taking on additional responsibilities including the management of a less experienced IT Engineer, IT project management and also sourcing and negotiating the acquisition of new products and services.

You will also work collaboratively with the wider IT team to support existing services while delivering new ones.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and secure all IT systems (Windows) and infrastructure operations
• Manage the service desk and ensure effective support across the organisation
• Lead transition to a hybrid (on-premise/cloud) IT model
• Maintain server operations, disaster recovery, and cyber security (Cyber Essentials compliance)
• Manage cloud platforms (Google Workspace, AWS, Azure AD, Office 365)
• Support database and software development teams through resilient and scalable systems
• Deliver strategic input on infrastructure planning, procurement, and budgeting
• Oversee supplier relationships and IT asset management

Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Strong hands-on technical expertise in Windows Server, networking, virtualisation (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to supporting legacy and modern systems
• Experience in IT project management and supplier negotiations
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills

This is a full-time role with occasional out-of-hours work required for system changes. The position is based in Thetford, with hybrid working options available.
