Job Description - IT Solutions / Software Developer

OPM are a leading force in Label and Flexible packaging print, who are ahead of the game in Manufacturing Automation are seeking an IT Solutions & Software Systems developer to manage their tech infrastructure onsite in Leeds.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

On site IT SUPPORT - Working alongside OPMs IT provider;
o

Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, printers etc
o

Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
o

Providing technical support across the company (this may be in person or over the phone/via TeamViewer )
o

Setting up accounts for new users and repairing and replacing equipment as necessary.
o

Checking daily the server backups and disaster recovery replication server
o

Ensuring the VPN and access to the Remote Desktop Server is always available for remote users.

Automation and Integration Activities
o

Continuous improvement of business processes where instructed by implementing novel solutions for repetitive tasks.
o

Reduce manual human intervention as much as possible to reduce the risk of mistakes.
o

Have constant awareness of the effects that changes have on business processes, to processes further down the line.

Print MIS System ( Tharstern) Training will be given
o

Creation of new users for both main software and in IDC, where applicable.
o

Induction initial training of the Tharstern interface for new users, troubleshooting and basic overview.
o

General management of the data’s ‘health’ and integrity, checking of naming conventions and ensuring existing automation continues to work as expected.

SharePoint
o

Maintain and manage the OPM Intranet (SharePoint).
o

Create users and groups, and add users to groups for their departments internal ‘Team Site’.
o

Manage/ update /and secure the Dept folders’ digital copies on SharePoint.

Power Apps Applications and Flows
o

Design, plan and build content driven business apps for a number of scenarios using Microsoft PowerBI
o

Assign or display the applications as requested.
o

Link the apps with on-site data through secure encrypted gateway connectors.
o

Script automated workflows using Microsoft Flow to automate the apps.

Data Analysis and Report Writing
o

Proficiency in a number of reporting methods including, but not limited to;
o

Crystal Reports, Power BI, Excel
o

Design, plan and build reports for a number of scenarios from a multitude of SQL server databases.
o

Assign or display the reports as requested.

Software Development
Collaborate with the OPM software and system development engineer, to create efficient and scalable web applications.
o

Develop and maintain the frontend and backend of web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Python (FastAPI).
o

Implement and maintain database designs with SQL Server.
o

Write clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices.
o

Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core product software to ensure strong optimization and functionality.

Requirements:
o

Proficiency in Python, particularly with FastAPI framework, TypeScript, React and Next.js.
o

Experience with SQL Server and understanding of database design and query optimization.
o

Familiarity with Git version control.
o

Understanding of RESTful APIs and web application architectures.
o

Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
o

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:
o

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
o

Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
o

Previous work with CI/CD pipelines.
o

Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
