IT Support Engineer
Location: Chelmsford, Essex Salary: Up to £35,000 Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm Contract: Full-time, Permanent Working Arrangement: On-site
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on IT Specialist to join a growing team in Chelmsford.
This is a varied, practical IT role covering IT support, infrastructure, networking, systems, cybersecurity and technology projects. You'll work closely with colleagues across the wider business, ensuring IT systems remain secure, reliable and efficient while providing high-quality support to users.
The role would suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems and taking ownership of IT systems and projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands-on IT support and troubleshooting to users across the business. Set up, configure and maintain computers, hardware and software. Manage and support Microsoft 365, Windows and user accounts. Maintain and troubleshoot networks, switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless infrastructure. Support system upgrades, installations and migrations. Research, test and implement new software, technologies and IT solutions. Assist with IT projects and provide support and training to users. Maintain accurate IT documentation and ensure appropriate security standards are maintained. Monitor and identify opportunities to improve IT systems, processes and efficiency. Help maintain a secure, reliable and well-organised IT environment.About You
We're looking for someone with previous experience in IT Support, IT Systems, Infrastructure or a similar IT role.
You'll ideally have:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows and Active Directory. A good understanding of networking and IT infrastructure. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection and Cyber Essentials. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical users effectively. A proactive and organised approach to your work. The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and take ownership of issues. A genuine interest in technology and improving the way IT is delivered within a business.What's on Offer
Salary of up to £35,000, depending on experience. Permanent, full-time position. Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm. On-site role based in Chelmsford, Essex.
