Job Description - IT Technical Support Specialist

IT Technical Support Specialist
  • Annual Salary: Competitive
  • Location: Redhill, Surrey
  • Job Type: Mainly onsite, up to 1 day per week working from home

A new exciting permanent IT Technical Support Specialist has become available for a leading manufacturing company looking for someone to provide exceptional IT support services to business users, facilitating their engagement with their technology resources.

This role is pivotal in understanding user needs and identifying underlying challenges to deliver solutions that enhance their standing as a premier dairy/food producer and supplier. You will report directly to the IT Service Delivery Manager and play a key role in their IT operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support for business applications, systems, and networks, emphasizing analytical problem-solving to address issues effectively.
  • Own the service desk and ticket management with a detailed and systematic approach to ensure SLAs are met or exceeded.
  • Analyse recurring issues, identify root causes, and propose solutions to enhance service stability and prevent future occurrences.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software and hardware components of computer and network systems.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure's dashboards, applying critical thinking to pre-empt and resolve issues before they impact operations.
  • Diagnose and address software and hardware malfunctions using a systematic approach.
  • Maintain both technical and end-user knowledge bases.
  • Manage IT assets and procure IT peripherals.
  • Collaborate and assist in the rollout of IT projects, both locally and with other teams.
  • Train end-users on new and existing IT solutions, tailoring instruction to maximize the effectiveness of available technology.
  • Work with external organizations, suppliers, and contractors as required.
  • Cooperate with other teams to deliver the IS/IT goals and objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A proven track record of interest and expertise in IT/Technology, with a focus on analytical and detail-oriented problem-solving.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills paired with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office 365 suite.
  • Basic understanding of networking in a business environment.
  • An understanding of mobile technology and its application in a business context.
  • Ability to deliver both pro-active and reactive support to end users, focusing on detailed, customer-centric solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people at different levels.
  • Occasional weekend and bank holiday work, covered across the team on a rota basis.
Desirable Skills:
  • KACE Systems Management Appliance experience.
  • KACE Cloud Mobile Device Manager.
  • Basic SharePoint Online administration.
  • BMC Helix ITSM Service Desk.
  • Experience delivering end-user training.
