Job Description - IT Technician

On-Site IT Support Engineer

Walsall

£30,000-32,000 (Depending on experience)

REED Technology are recruiting on behalf of an organisation seeking a proactive and customer-focused On-Site IT Support Engineer (1st/2nd line) to join their dedicated IT Services team based in Walsall.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced environment where you’ll provide both remote and onsite support across multiple office locations in the UK. You’ll be involved in a broad range of duties from desktop support and network troubleshooting to hardware configuration and infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver remote and onsite 1st/2nd line support to end users across UK offices.
  • Carry out proactive site visits to maintain and improve local IT infrastructure.
  • Configure, install and maintain desktops, laptops, switches, routers, printers, and firewalls.
  • Assist with network cabling and general infrastructure tasks.
  • Provide peripheral and mobile device support including telephony systems.
  • Manage hardware deliveries, storage, and disposal in accordance with company procedures.
  • Perform PC imaging, equipment repairs, and device recycling tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, assets, and service requests via the service management tool.
  • Administer user accounts and security access using Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Work with Microsoft Intune and basic PowerShell scripts (desirable).
  • Travel to other UK sites as required (full UK driving licence essential).

Experience

  • Experience in a service desk or IT support role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
  • Good understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and general networking principles.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (Microsoft Intune preferred).
  • A passion for IT and willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage workload independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills – both written and verbal.
  • Network cabling knowledge would be a distinct advantage.
