IT Technician

IT Technician - £13.45 per hour plus excellent benefits - hours are 08:30 to 16:30 Mon-Fri - Immediate start available -Temporary ongoing position - Newport, South Wales - On-site Parking, 28 days Holiday (rising ro 33), Pension, subsidised canteen

We are recruiting an IT Technician to join a global manufacturing company based in Newport. Our client are a market leading company within their field - reporting to the IT Manager and working as part of a small and friendly team, this is a varied role which will involve moving and setting up new and existing IT equipment and desks across two sites - ideally you will have a car as you may be based at either site (both in Newport).

IT Technician duties will include :

Packing up and moving desks and IT equipement to various locations
Setting up laptops, PCs and printers - this will involve initial set up on desks and checking networks
Installation of equipment and checking networks
Collecting various pieces of equipment and KIT from stores area
Follow SOP's and other processes/procedures where appropriate
Manage end user hardware including setup, repair, and troubleshooting
Printer and copier basic support
Assisting the team with providing 1st line support and raising tickets
Assist with ensuring stock levels of IT equipment are maintained

The successful candidate will have strong customer service and communication skills - this role will be based across two sites, so you must have a driving licence and your own vehicle. Your primary function will be assisting colleagues with the smooth transition of new and existing IT equipment and communicating updates to colleagues and team members at all times. You will ideally have some IT experience or interest in IT and some practical experience would be ideal. In addition you must be comfortable communicating via telephone, email and face to face, be proficient within Microsoft office and demonstrate strong problem solving skills.
